Midjourney Prompt Tips for Coloring Pages

Using the correct wording in your coloring page prompts is important so you can get Midjourney to understand what you want your image to look like.

You can create prompts that are very simple or more detailed.

Beginning of the Prompt

Start out the prompt with what you want to create. Here are a few ideas:

Middle of the Prompt

Add the information of what you want in the coloring page. Here are a few examples:

Stylize Parameter for Coloring Page Prompts

The Midjourney stylize parameter lets you control how strong Midjourney will use artistic creativity in your images.

When you set the stylize value low, your images stick closer to your prompt and have a simpler, less decorative style.

But when using a high stylize value, Midjourney will take artistic freedom but could stray away from details in your prompt.

I have found that using a lower (0 – 250) stylize parameter works well when creating Midjourney prompts for coloring pages for kids.

But if you want more detail for coloring pages for adults, use a higher (350-700) stylize parameter.

Midjourney default stylize value is 100.

Ways to Change the Stylize Parameter:

To change the Stylize Parameter on the web app: Use the slider that is found in the Aesthetics menu.

To Change the Stylize Parameter in Discord: type in /settings, hit return. Click on Stylize Low.

Or you can also just add it to the end of the coloring page prompt.

--s (value) OR --stylize (value)

To see how much the stylize parameter changes an image, here are two examples.

The first image has a low stylize value of 25, the second one uses the maximum value of 1,000.

Using Correct Aspect Ratio for Coloring Page Prompts

Image size also matters. Aspect ratios determine if your images fit on the paper size you want to use.

Midjourney default aspect ratio is –ar 6:5. This size may not be good for coloring pages.

Here are a few aspect ratios that are good to use when creating coloring pages.

• Vertical: 70:99 (good for A4 size)
• Landscape: 99:70 (good for A4 size)
• Vertical: 17:22 (good for U.S. letter size)
• Landscape: 22:17 (good for U.S.letter size)

You can set the aspect ratio parameter to closely match your paper size by adding at the end of your prompt:

--ar (value) OR --aspect ratio (value)

Using Negative Parameter in Midjourney

Using this parameter in your prompt will let Midjourney know what you don’t want to see in your images.

To do this, add what you don’t want to see in the generated images to the end of your prompt:

--no shading, grayscale, text, letters, signature
